Student Guardianship Services

Are you keen on sending your child to Johor Bahru to study with us?

Parents who are keen on doing this may find it tough to balance their career and also caring for their child who is overseas. This is where homestay accommodations will come into place. Homestays are a great way for students to be cared for by a student guardian and also to have a nice and cosy location to stay and study.

Homestay accommodation is a good option for parents who want to send their child to us to study and have someone to care for their lodging, education and any other needs.

At Starclub Homestay, a student guardian is provided for each student. While the student's guardian responsibilities is non-exhaustive, his/her primary responsibility includes paying special attention to the child's needs, well-being and academic progress.

Starclub Guardianship is catered for children whom are school-going and are attending our International Homeschool in Johor Bahru away from their homes.

It would work well for their parents who wish to have their child cared for by a guardian during the child's academic years in Johor Bahru, without all the hassle of personally relocating to Johor to take up the guardianship role.

Starclub provides lodging and tuition for the child to ensure that all his/her needs are met. Our student guardians also take on parental duties in the absence of the child's parents. This ensures that you, as parents can have a peace of mind about their child's well-being and academic progress.

Our guardians will also be in contact with parents to keep you regularly updated about your child's progress. Our guardians are well trained and experienced and are ready to provide for the best learning and growing environment for your child.

O Level/IGCSE Retakes 2016

FAQs on Retaking O levels/IGCSE

1. I did not do well for my O-Levels/IGCSE. Should I retake?

Well, the final decision is yours to make. But if you think that the results are not a true reflection of your potential, then there is no harm in giving yourself a second chance. If you do retake, you might end up getting better grades and qualifying to a college/polytechnic course that you want.

2. But all my friends have qualified to the poly and college. I feel so embarrased to waste another year.

You are at a stage in life where peer pressure is significant. But think about it this way, it is your life and you must make decisions that will give you a brighter future. There is nothing wrong in telling your friends that you are going to give yourself a second chance. In fact, this shows that you have a strong character. Did you know that Albert Einstein failed the entrance exam for the Swiss polytechnic in Zurich when he was 16 years old? But what made him the greatest scientist of our time? He had the guts to give himself a second chance. Don't think of retaking your O-levels/IGCSE as a wasted year, think of it as investing another year for a brighter future. Do NOT waste your entire life trying to save one year!!!

3. I am very confused. Can I talk to someone who retook their O-levels/IGCSE before?

Starclub is a private O level/IGCSE school, established in Johor Bahru, that has been helping students take their O levels/IGCSE and guiding other students to retake their O level/IGCSE for more than 10 years. We know it is a difficult time and this may even be the first major setback in your life. It is natural for you to feel confused but what you need right now is a clear mind to make a strong decision.

4. How do I retake my O levels/IGCSE as a private candidate?

To retake your O levels/IGCSE as a private candidate, it is best that you find a private school that offers full-time GCE O level courses.

5. What are the minimum number of subjects I need to take to be considered a full-time private candidate at Starclub private O level school?

6 subjects and 3 subjects for retakes.

6. What is the amount I need to pay? Can I pay in installments?

At Starclub, the school fees can be paid on a monthly basis. For 6 subjects, the cost is RM900 per month and for 3 subjects, the cost is RM700 per month.

Pre-primary English Language Programme

Pre-Primary English Programme

Our curriculum aims to prepare children for school success and lifelong learning.
As children grow, their capacity to communicate becomes paramount to their interactions. Our teachers lead classroom lessons that ensure children aren't merely memorizing letters and imitating sounds but building vocabulary, phonemic awareness, writing, and reading readiness.

Our Phonics courses incorporate good practice from the ‘Letters and Sounds’ and ‘Zoo Phonics’ programmes to create a multi-sensory learning experience. They are taught through a range of fun and multi-sensory activities to help them remember the sounds and to combine them to make age-appropriate words. Our course is taught by highly experienced teachers trained in teaching Phonics.
On this course, your child will:
  • learn the 42 letter sounds
  • learn handwriting skills and letter formation
  • learn how to combine sounds to make words
  • identify sounds in words and segment them to spell
  • learn tricky words – words that cannot be decoded using phonics
  • learn about alternative spelling – different spellings that are pronounced the same way
  • learn to write what they can say
After completing our series of Phonics courses, your child will acquire the phonics skills and be able to read and write based on the sounds.
For phonics assessment, please call us on 07-2979910 or 011-28965151(whatsapp) for details.
